The basics – while some of the brighter, more patterned items might be packed away until the sun shines more brightly, neutrals like grey, tan, brown, and black are easy to move into a warmer wardrobe. Camisoles, pants/jeans, longer skirts and dresses – if it’s a classic cut in a classic colour, leave it hanging for the next fashion season.

Classic outerwear - layering with a cardigan, poncho, or coat can transition many staples into winter. All it takes is one or two classic styles in solid colours to create many outfit combos using previous season staples.

Leggings to pair underneath the skirts and dresses you’re bringing in from the months passed. If your top half needs some more warmth – you can add underneath (t-short or long sleeve) or over the top (cardigan or coat).

Boots. It sounds simple, but it’s true – adding boots to any outfit immediately turns it into winter fashion. Ankle and knee length are classic styles and, if purchased well, will last you a few colder seasons and pair well with most things (if neutral in colour/style).

Accessories, which means scarfs and hats (or beanies if you can pull them off!). Adding a scarf to a simple pant/top or dress and tight combo is another way to add a layer of warmth and introduce some of the season’s colours.
