October 26th is Grandparents Day a beautiful reminder to celebrate the love, wisdom, and laughter shared across generations. What better way to honour it than with a classic recipe that feels like home: Jam Drop Biscuits.

These nostalgic little biscuits are perfect for baking with grandkids, gifting to Nan, or sharing over a cuppa. Simple to make and even simpler to enjoy, they’re a sweet nod to tradition and togetherness.

You’ll Need:

  • 125g butter, softened

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

  • 1 ¾ cups self-raising flour

  • ½ cup raspberry or strawberry jam

How To:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line baking trays.

  2. Beat butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until creamy.

  3. Mix in flour to form a soft dough.

  4. Roll teaspoons of dough into balls, place on tray, and press a thumbprint in each.

  5. Fill the centre with a little jam.

  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.

  7. Cool on racks and store in an airtight tin (if they last that long!).

Why we love it:
Food has a way of connecting us, just like grandparents do. These little biscuits are a chance to share stories, giggles, and sticky jam fingers with the people who matter most.
